During the course of a year-long project about bipolar disorder, I shot in many different situations and with a good number of patients, healthcare providers, and relatives. Bipolar disorder takes a heavy toll on the patients of course, but also on the relatives and even on the healthcare providers. I did however want to also stress that the diseases can, in some cases be stabilized to the extent that patients can lead a fulfilling life. I also wanted to dispel some misconceptions about bipolar disorder patients and show them in their daily reality, as could be anyone’s next door neighbor. This woman participated in my project and gave me many interesting insights. In particular, she explained to me how manic phases induce in her sometimes deleterious behaviors and irrational visions such as this rose shower as she rides the back seat of a convertible car. - Zug, Switzerland, 04 April 2018
