The woman on this picture is a patient with bipolar disorder. She nonetheless leads a very rewarding life and is well recognized professionally and personally. Bath, UK, 13 September 2018...Bipolar disorder takes a heavy toll on the patients and their relatives. Many features associated with the disease are stigmatizing and conducive to severe solitude. Additionally, manic phases can be scary for the people around the patients. Yet, several patients described to me how manic phases can also be enjoyable, while they last, with a stiff price to pay afterwards. This series revisits some of these moments, as very personal portraits based on the descriptions given by patients about their own visions during manic phases...This is a portrait. Photographer used peaceful moments of interview to shoot this portrait.
