About to receive treatment

This patient is about to receive electro-shock therapy to treat her severe depressive phases. Nowadays, patients are anesthetized to undergo the treatment, monitored by a full team of healthcare workers, and kept under strict control to avoid pain or unwanted side-effects. Nyon, Switzerland, 26 January 2018...During the course of a year-long project about bipolar disorder, I was several times embedded in the team of a small psychiatric clinic. this time, I was in the electro-therapy treatment room. This patient was very enthusiastic that I should photograph her because she wanted to tell the world how happy she was that she could receive this treatment, which, according to her, saved her life. She was very happy to participate in my reportage. .. Taken as I was embedded in the team. Photographer did not influence the scene in any way (treatment routine is well oiled), nor gave directions to anyone.
